6. Medical Design Club Announcements

Hi everyone!

The Medical Design Club has several updates for this week; please refer to the following:

1) Biweekly Meeting Activities

2) Anaheim Biomedical Expo

3) Promega Tour

4) February 19th Tour

5) Projects

Biweekly Meeting Activities

This quarter, we are planning on switching things up a bit regarding our meetings. We have come up with several activities that we feel will be really useful for everyone and can be valuable skills to apply to projects that you are working on (or plan to work on), both within or outside of the Medical Design Club. We want to get your opinion, however, on which activities would be the most interesting to you.

Please fill out this poll with your interest in potential meeting activities:

Anaheim Biomedical Expo (MD&M West)

MD&M West is North America’s largest Biomedical and Medtech expo! It is where all of the up and coming Biomedical projects will be showcased, and will be a great networking session to talk to representatives from these companies. In addition to the up and coming products and companies, the expo will also have reps from Abbott, Stryker, Medtronic, J&J and many more. It is happening in Anaheim on Tuesday-Thursday February 6-8. You can attend as many or as few days as you would like. We are hoping to get a group or two down there to the expo, so if you are interested, please let us know which day works best for you in the following survey:

If you are interested in learning more about this expo, here is the link: https://mdmwest.mddionline.com/

Please Note: The expo is free if you register online before February 5th. If not, it is $150 at the door!

Promega Tour

Promega is a local company here in San Luis Obispo focused on drug development and incorporating aspects of molecular biology and biochemistry. Because there is no travel necessary to reach Promega, we are planning a half day tour and hope to accommodate as many people as we can. If you are interested in joining us in touring Promega, please fill out this survey with your availability:

February 19th Tour

We are currently working on finalizing a tour for Monday February 19th. We don’t have class that day due to Presidents Day, but most companies are going to remain open. We will keep everyone updated with more news as we finalize this tour, but please keep in mind that we will plan on having a tour on February 19th.
