Applying for Fellowships, Internships & Jobs with the Federal Government

The federal government hires graduates from every major and is the nation's largest employer with over two million employees. Are you interested in working for the federal government or getting government experience through fellowships or internships while you're still at Cal Poly? This workshop explores the range of federal opportunities that are available and guides you through the complex federal hiring process. You'll get tips for finding opportunities and writing your federal resume.

Sometimes people assume that federal jobs are only for political science majors, when in fact, the federal government has jobs for every major.  For example, Environmental Management & Protection or Biology majors may be interested in working for the National Park Service; Agriculture and Nutrition majors can apply for the huge number of jobs with the Department of Agriculture; and many majors would qualify for jobs at national museums or historic monuments.
