1.The Health Technologies Team at Apple is recruiting for interns 


The Health Technologies Team at Apple in Cupertino, California is currently recruiting for interns.  If you are interested in joining an energetic, collaborative, engaged team and gain some real world experience, please review the attached job description and submit your resume by March 31st, 2018.  Phone interviews will take place throughout April and May with hiring decisions made in early June.  Internships are available as Fall (approx September 1 through the end of the calendar year), Spring (approx Jan 1 to June or August) or for a full year (Fall 2018 through summer 2019).

Please note that Apple requires interns to be full-time students both at the start and the end of the internship.  Therefore, the positions cannot be filled by someone after they have graduated unless they can demonstrate that they have already been accepted to graduate school and are deferring start of their graduate studies to pursue the internship.

3. Master of Science in Magnetic Resonance in Medicine 


I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new Master of Science in Magnetic Resonance in Medicine degree program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. This accredited program takes place at a world-class medical center, where you can build upon your undergraduate education and prepare for an exciting and rewarding career in the clinical and academic world of magnetic resonance imaging.


The two-year program begins in September with coursework and lab/clinical rotations that give you a solid understanding of MR and various clinical and research applications. From there, students will have the opportunity to dive deep in a thesis research project. The high-quality program will provide the students with technical knowledge and practical skills. The students will have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment and enjoy the warm, safe, and supportive community of scholars at Cedars-Sinai that fosters diversity and organizational integrity, and encourages cultural individuality.

We are currently in the process of planning two industry tour trips during spring quarter! Look out for an upcoming email with an interest survey. We want as much feedback as possible, so that we can make these trips valuable for you.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Sara Abrahamsson
Friday, February 23rd
11 AM - 12 PM, Bonderson 104

Dr. Abrahamsson is an assistant professor at UCSC, in the Baskin School of Engineering. She will be presenting on her research and discussing the possibility of applying to continued education or research at UCSC. Her lab develops optical imaging systems for applied biomicroscopy (including functional neuronal imaging) and does nanofabrication of optical devices.

SolidWorks and 3D Printing Workshop
Sunday, February 25th
11 AM, One of the ME Labs (TBD)

Everyone who attends this workshop will learn to making something in SolidWorks, export the file, and set-up the print file. You will also get to print your own 3D-printed object!

1. SolidWorks Workshop


In continuing with our general meeting workshops, tomorrow, 2/27 we will be having a SolidWorks workshop in 192-242 from 11a-12p.


2. Promega Tour


Promega is a local Bioscience company that specializes in pharmaceuticals, cell biology, and genetics. We have the awesome opportunity to tour their facilities and meet and ask questions with some of their scientists. Feel free to check out what they’re working on here: https://www.promega.com/. We will be touring Promega’s SLO location (~10 min from campus) this Friday 3/2 at 1:30p. The tour will take no longer than a couple of hours. So that we can set up carpooling over to Promega, please fill out this form and we will provide you with drivers and meeting locations to get to the tour:

3. Club Room and 3D Printer Officer Hours


We would like to make sure that you all have access to the club room for supplies and the 3D printer for your various projects. If you would like to use the printer (it’s free!), please check when your availability lines up with our officers’ using this link: https://mdc.calpoly.edu/officer-hours/, and send us an email in advance of when you would like to print. That way, we can have an officer meet you to let you in and help you get set up on the printer.
