Clifford Les received his DVM and his PhD from the University of California-Davis, his MS from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign, and did a postdoctoral fellowship at NASA-Ames Research Center. He practiced mixed-animal veterinary medicine in Trinity County, California, and took part in the 2001 international response to the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak in Cumbria,England, as well as the 2002 response to Chronic Wasting Disease in Wisconsin.
Currently he is an Associate Staff Scientist at the Bone and Joint Center, Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. In addition to his position at CPSU-SLO, he also holds adjunct professorships at the Wayne State University School of Medicine (Detroit, MI), the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine (East Lansing, MI), Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (Ft.Collins, CO), and serves as a consultant for the Detroit Medical Center (Detroit, MI) and the Advanced Equine Research Institute (Providence, RI).
Dr.Les’ research interests are in alterations to bone materials properties distribution, and the resulting effects on the bone structure, with estrogen depletion, exercise, and metabolic acidosis.
